Family fun walks in Alsace Verte: exploring with children without the boredom

Ideas for treasure-hunt walks to discover Morsbronn, Woerth, Hunspach, Lembach or Wissembourg as a family.

In Alsace Verte, days out with children involve far more than "walking a bit". The tourist office offers a complete range of Balades Ludiques designed as treasure hunts, and Morsbronn-les-Bains is also home to Didi’Land, the region's family theme park.

The Balades Ludiques: sightseeing without losing their attention

The Balades Ludiques of Alsace Verte are designed for families with children. The idea is simple: follow a route, look closely at the historic, architectural or natural heritage, gather clues and then solve a riddle. The booklets come in three age levels, 4/6 years, 7/9 years and over 10 years, so the walk can be matched to the children's real pace.

The villages listed by the tourist office include Morsbronn-les-Bains, Hunspach, Lembach, Niederbronn-les-Bains, Wissembourg, Woerth, Seebach, Betschdorf-Kuhlendorf, Kutzenhausen – Merkwiller-Pechelbronn, Reichshoffen and Soultz-sous-Forêts. It is therefore a genuine basis for planning several different half-days from the Ritter’Hoft.

Didi’Land: a day of fun just around the corner

For a day with more of a theme-park feel, Didi’Land is located in Morsbronn-les-Bains. The Alsace Verte listing announces more than 37 rides for young and old: longship, pirate ship, rafting, big wheel, wild river, water play area and other family attractions. Opening periods are seasonal and should be checked before you set off.

How to build a family day out from the hotel

The best format is often not to overload the day: a playful walk in the morning, a lunch or afternoon-tea break, then a freer activity in the afternoon. For the youngest, keep some room for rest. For older children, choose a village with a real objective: a castle, a white-walled village, a forest or a riddle to solve.

Ritter'Hoft tip: ask at reception which walk suits best given the children's ages, the weather and the time available. The booklets can be downloaded or picked up at the tourist office branches.
